The invasive Nest

Approx. 200 x 230 cm, Japanese knotweed, freshly shaped, entire object dried for 1.5 months, copper strands (underground cable), 2026

In my work, I address the sustainability of art and thus engage with various plants. As an invasive plant, Japanese knotweed is of great significance to our nature: it spreads extremely fast and displaces all other vegetation in the process.

A nest is a place of safety. Here, the most precious thing of all is guarded – the offspring. Pure fragility is placed here in safety, surrounded by a material that actually stands for displacement.
