The Neophyte as a Present

Welded steel (interlocking), print on flag fabric,

5 parts, 300 × 150 cm each, 2026

Here, the invasive Japanese knotweed is presented by the artist as a gift, like a bouquet of flowers. She brings it to locations where it would inevitably displace local plant diversity. At first glance, the images appear harmonious and literally natural, but they actually depict scenes that could be unsettling. The installation highlights the beauty of this invasive plant, which has already claimed so much space. If even a small twig is left behind, it could immediately sprout again and multiply rapidly.
